Is a SSL Certificate Required on all ecommerce sites?

A SSL Certificate is not a requirement of a good ecommerce site, although it is highly recommended. Depending upon your ecommerce setup, it is not legally required.

When we set up an ecommerce site that uses our recommended merchant account, we use the bank's server and THEIR SSL Certifcate to collect credit card and other sensitive information. Our cart tells their server how much to collect, the customer gives the bank their credit card information, the bank places the funds into your account and tells the cart the funds are collected and it is ok to complete the transaction. All PCI rules are followed as the bank handles the credit transaction. All of this is handled seamlessly from your AmeriWeb account.
