HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR DOMAIN NAME
Domain names can easily be transferred in to AmeriWeb.
FIRST log into your current domain registrar and unlock the domain. Locked domains cannot be transferred.
SECOND obtain the domain's transfer code from your current
registrar. Also known as an EPP code, Authorization code or Transfer Key.
A multidigit code that can be emailed to us, or entered when asked for by our robot.
COST TO TRANSFER
The cost of transferring a domain between registrars is the renewal cost. 1 year is automatically added to your expiration date. EX: If your domain is set to expire 01/01/2024 and you transfer to AmeriWeb, upon completion the new expiration will be 01/01/2025.
TIME TO TRANSFER
Many registrars allow you to approve the transfer immediately, so the transfer will complete within minutes. Other registrars choose not to allow this option , and the transfer can be delayed by up to 7 days before transferring.
60 DAY LOCKOUT PERIOD
Do not make changes to your domain name prior to transferring. If you change nameservers, renew it at the old registrar or make other specific changes there is an automatic 60 day lockout period. If triggered, the only option is to wait 60 days then try again. ALSO transferring a domain name, or registering it as a new domain, will trigger the 60 day lockout.
